T -15 and counting

Today I ran 5 miles in 53.30. The last 1.5 miles was into the wind, which was quite chilly today, and uphill for a significant portion, that is the price one pays for living in a river valley I suppose. This is a personal best for me, and I am so proud of myself!

Brian has two exams tomorrow, which is my last Monday of the school year. I am sure he will do well. We are preparing to pack for our trip to Nevis. My closet is full of bags of things to bring like books and supplies. The past few days here have been pretty nice so I have been working on my pre-Caribbean sunburn - LOL!!!!!

Michaila went on a tee-pee campout last night and Nolan and I had a movie fest. Otherwise, we are living a boring Midwestern life. I am looking forward to our Father's Day weekend trip to Antigua. We were planning on St. Maarten, but the airfare was cheaper to Antigua, and we found a cottage (with a kitchen) for the Caricom rate (the rate for Caribbean locals - ha ha - we are locals now!) rather than the tourist rate, which can be big money! Antigua has 365 beaches - one for each day of the year.

T -30 and counting

Well, there is not much going on here. I finished my class the day Brian left. Ended up with a 98%, which I guess I can live with (hahaha). Nolan and Micha are doing well. They are winding down the school year and adjusting to Brian being gone. Fortunately, that won't need to be a huge adjustments since WE WILL BE ON NEVIS JUNE 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our biggest concern right now is the Pre-island checklist, which entails all the measly shopping and chores to do before we take off. Among this includes oil changes, lawn service, dog grooming, etc. Tomorrow is our last clothes shopping trip before we hit the sand and surf. So, after my run tomorrow we take off to the department store to stock up. Then, it is just a matter of keeping the house clean and getting out the old suitcases. I am pretty sure by the time we are done with this endeavor that we will need brand new luggage!

However, we are very very excited since we haven't seen Nevis since last August. Despite the developing world environment, there is a certain charm to that backward little island! This year we plan on taking a trip to St. Maarten with friends. We may also try for Antigua, but we will see. I am planning on returning to Nevis (sans children) for Brian's 'basic science' graduation. Brian is thinking of a few nights on Antigua in December. See everyone soon!!!!
