Growing Pains

Well, it is nearly 7:30 on a Friday night in May. The sun is still shining and the temperature is fairly warm. I thought the kids and I were going to sit down to watch last night's season finale of Grey's Anatomy together like we usually do when we are waiting for Brian to get home. Turns out, they would rather hang out with friends down the street, ride bikes, and play flashlight tag. I knew this would happen eventually - that friends would be more important - I just didn't expect it to hurt so bad.

Wow, that is sad! I am not looking forward to that day. I was just talking with my mom about that exact thing the other day because my sister was upset about her kids attitude on family time. My mother told her "the most important thing in a teenager's life is their friends. Not that they don't love their families...but their friends are more important." Sad but true. My mother would know after raising five! Good luck and I hope you had a fun weekend after all.
